Artist Application & Participation Agreement

Local Shuffle connects local musicians with customers at participating coffee shops, breweries, bars, restaurants, and other local businesses. Customers purchase a randomly selected local song for $1, helping support both the participating business and the local music community.

How Local Shuffle works:

Customers pay $1 for access to one randomly selected local song.
The participating business keeps 75% of the purchase.
15% goes into the Local Shuffle Artist Pool.
10% supports the operation and development of Local Shuffle.
The Artist Pool is divided equally among eligible participating artists.
Artists do not receive a larger share because their song happens to be selected more often.

2. Artist Verification

Because Local Shuffle distributes a portion of its revenue among participating artists, we take reasonable steps to verify that applicants are actually authorized to represent the artist or band they are submitting.

Before your application can be approved, please make a public social-media post from an account associated with the artist or band announcing that you are joining Local Shuffle.

The post should clearly include the artist or band name.

Example:
"[Artist/Band Name] is joining Local Shuffle! We're excited to help support local music. localshuffle.com"

After making the post, provide the link below. Local Shuffle will review the post as part of the application approval process.

3. Local Eligibility

Local Shuffle initially operates within the Tampa Bay geographic zone. As Local Shuffle grows, this zone may be divided into smaller geographic zones.

To participate as a Local Shuffle Artist, an artist must both live within the applicable geographic zone and release music while operating within that geographic zone.

6. Music Rights & License

By submitting music to Local Shuffle, the artist grants Local Shuffle a non-exclusive license to use the submitted music for the purposes of operating and promoting the Local Shuffle program.

This license permits Local Shuffle to:

Include the submitted song in the Local Shuffle music catalog.
Select one eligible song from the artist for inclusion in the active Local Shuffle rotation.
Make the active song available to customers who have legitimately redeemed a Local Shuffle purchase.
Digitally deliver the song through the Local Shuffle website or associated technology.
Identify the artist and song title to customers.
Display the artist's name, approved biography, photograph, artwork, website, and social-media links for Local Shuffle-related purposes.
Promote the artist and Local Shuffle participation through Local Shuffle marketing.

This agreement does not transfer ownership of the song, recording, composition, trademark, artist name, or other intellectual property to Local Shuffle.

The artist retains ownership of their music and may continue to distribute, perform, license, and promote their music through other services and platforms.

I agree to grant Local Shuffle the non-exclusive license described above.

8. Artist Payments

Fifteen percent (15%) of Local Shuffle purchase revenue is allocated to the Local Shuffle Artist Pool.

The Artist Pool is divided equally among all eligible active Local Shuffle Artists for the applicable monthly payout period.

The number of times an artist's song is selected does not increase that artist's share of the Artist Pool.

Artists may submit multiple songs, but submitting additional songs does not create additional artist shares.

Local Shuffle currently uses a monthly enrollment cutoff.

Payment Setup

Local Shuffle will not collect bank-account numbers, credit-card numbers, Social Security numbers, or other highly sensitive financial information through this application form.

When payment processing is activated, artists may be directed to a secure third-party payment provider to complete identity and payment verification.

9. Participation Terms

Participation in Local Shuffle is voluntary.
Local Shuffle may review and approve or reject artist and song submissions.
An artist may submit multiple songs, but only one song from that artist will normally be active in the Shuffle rotation at a time.
Local Shuffle may periodically change the song representing an artist in the active rotation.
Artists receive one equal share of the Artist Pool regardless of how often their song is selected.
Local Shuffle may temporarily suspend a song or artist if eligibility, rights ownership, authorization, or other participation requirements become uncertain.
An artist may request removal of their music from the Local Shuffle catalog. Previously issued customer redemptions will not be retroactively revoked.
Artists are responsible for maintaining accurate contact, geographic, music-rights, and payment information.
Artists are responsible for any taxes or other obligations associated with payments they receive from Local Shuffle.

10. Artist Representations

By submitting this application, I represent and warrant that:

I am the artist or an authorized representative of the artist named in this application.
The information provided in this application is accurate to the best of my knowledge.
I have the authority to grant the license described in this agreement.
I have obtained any necessary permissions from co-writers, band members, producers, labels, publishers, or other rights holders whose permission is required for the uses described in this agreement.
I will notify Local Shuffle if my ownership or authorization concerning a submitted song changes.
I understand that Local Shuffle may verify my claimed association with the artist or band before approving my application.
I understand that providing false information or falsely representing an artist may result in rejection, suspension, removal, withholding of payments, and/or other action available to Local Shuffle.

11. Final Agreement

I have read and understand this Local Shuffle Artist Application & Participation Agreement and agree to its terms.

I certify that the information I have provided is accurate and that I have the authority to submit this application and grant the permissions described above.
